The students are able to
name the basic pre-behavioural factors (e. g., attitudes, knowledge, values, preferences) of behavioural change and to describe what they mean,
name examples from their professional or everyday lives in which behavioural changes (focus on the individual; as a single person, e.g. consumer, or as part of a group, e.g. employees in an organisation) play a role,
apply empirical research methods (e.g. observation, survey, experiment),
understand basics of psychological determinants of behavioural change (e.g., attitudes, knowledge) and how to measure them (i

Learning Outcome and Competences
The students will learn to
characterize, classify and differentiate between different approaches to behavioural change in the context of environmentally relevant behaviours and actions,
explain why traditional approaches to behavioural change such as information campaigns often fail to achieve the desired goals and which basic ideas more recent approaches such as nudging and community-based approaches are based on,
understand which intermediating (psychological) variables can be drivers of behavioural change and discuss barriers (e.g., habits and habituation) and limitations (e.g., ethical aspects) of behavioural change,
design behavioural change interventions tailored to target groups, plan their implementation and evaluate their effectiveness via experiments, and
critically examine and anticipate the desirable and undesirable (side) effects of behavioural change interventions.

Assessment of Learning
Outcome
The assessment of learning outcome is composed as follows
development of a concept for a real behavioural change intervention in a team or individually
with the description of how to implement the intervention and measure the effectiveness (80%)
oral presentation of this concept in class ("pitch") (20%)
