Lernziele
  • Attitudes: Students recognize that effectively reading texts in English requires more than knowing individual words. They appreciate the importance of distinguishing between reading for key ideas and reading for detailed information. Students develop critical awareness of how English writing follows specific organizational patterns and how different contexts require different language registers. They understand that online tools can and should support language acquisition, but that effective use of these tools depends on a certain level of language knowledge.
 
  • Knowledge: Students gain knowledge of a range of reading strategies to effectively understand ideas and arguments put forth by writers. They understand the difference between summarizing a text and responding to it through commentary, reporting, or similar approaches. They recognize the importance of clear idea organization and how cohesive devices and structural features support this in writing. They understand how language register varies by context and purpose. Students consolidate their understanding of key grammar structures at B2 level and expand their knowledge of topic-specific vocabulary. They understand how to use online tools to support this ongoing language development.
     
  • Skills: Students can apply critical reading strategies to identify main ideas and key supporting points (as distinct from details) in authentic media- and communications-related texts. They can summarize key ideas from various sources in organized, cohesive writing using appropriate register and upper B2-level English. They apply grammar knowledge accurately and appropriately in their writing and can use vocabulary learning strategies to acquire and apply topic-specific language. They know how to access appropriate resources to continue developing their language skills.
