  • recognise the current environment and landscape as a dynamic image
  • explain the impact of anthropogenic activities on the environment and discuss cultural and socio-economic consequences.
  • understand „sustainable development“ concepts and their main resulting problems.
  • link them together and connect them to current negotiations and measures in place at local, national and international level.

After completion of the module students
 
  • have the ability to perceive and reflect critically on any kind of project in the professional field of environmental engineers with regard to ethical dimensions
  • are able to examine, critically reflect and discuss current issues and debates with regard to ethical dimensions.
  • are in a position to use ethics as an ‘instrument’ for clarification and critical reflection of theories explanations, justifications, ideologies etc., particularly in respect of the relationship between humans, society and the environment
  • recognize their resonsibility for societal challenges and perceive these challenges in their personal environment
Inhalte
Module Content
  • Introduction into ethics as a reflective science for considering human (moral) actions, ultimately focusing on the issues surrounding the attitudes of mankind towards one another and towards nature. Current opinions and concepts in industrialized and developing countries are brought into question, discussed and examined for their ethical legitimacy.
  • Crutial questions like „Who does the world belong?“ or „What basic false concepts keep humankind trapped in fatal impasses?“ and „What alternativ models, experiences, visions and scientific perspectives with ethically sound foudations are available?“ complete the dispute
