Short description

The engineers gain an insight into the most important business management principles and interrelationships. They are supposed to understand how companies operate, to be able to classify strategies and processes and to understand the basics of financial and operational accounting.

Module contents

The main objective is to know and understand economic interrelationships and their application in the fields covered. The basics of business administration are discussed and illustrated with examples. Students are also encouraged to contribute to the lessons with small presentations or case studies.

The module includes a selection of the following contents (St. Gallen Management Model):

- The work environment of the engineer in the company and society

- Strategy/Marketing

- Basic terms of accounting

- Income statement/ Balance sheet

- Accounting/ Calculation/

- Bookkeeping, investment calculation

- Sales and production planning,

- Human resources management, organization

- Investment calculation

- Management systems, quality, safety environment
