Lernziele This course aims to be thought provoking as it takes students on a journey into new thinking about leadership. The subject is built around the “sustainable leadership” principles that research and practice show underlie high performing and resilient organisations in many parts of the world. Rather than examining the characteristics of individual leaders, this course takes a systemic view of leadership. In this view, leaders form part of a leadership system that includes followers and the context in which they interact. Emerging topics are covered, including the “honeybee” leadership principles that characterise sustainable/resilient enterprises; “sufficiency thinking” that is transforming Thailand at the national level; and the social responsibility of business leadership to engage with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Although the emphasis is on applications to business organisations, similar principles apply to not-for-profit and government enterprises, and also at the level of nations.
Kompetenzen Focus: “Applications wrapped around theory and evidence”.
Teaching methods/tools: Interactive lectures, with cases, simulations, videos and company examples as appropriate to the topic. Reflections via diary.
