Die Studierenden sind in der Lage,
  • The students know the sociocultural, political and economic fundamentals of research concerning alpine regions (development and current debate) in the context of the special ecological conditions.
  • The students are able to derive, reflect, apply and implement the theoretical concept of sustainability as a way for a solution oriented regional development process.

Learning Outcome and Competences
Die Studierenden werden befähigt,
 
  • The students can analyse the transdisciplinary correlations of the resource management of alpine areas and their impacts for the society.
  • The students can describe the scientific discourse about the management of natural resources in alpine areas and the corresponding political, economic and ecological factors and they understand occurring different positions.
  • The students can classify, review and implement existing development tools considering the specific circumstances of a certain region.
  • The students can assess scientific methods, develop own approaches and apply them for different examples (research projects, regional development projects).
Inhalte
Module Content
The course discusses the natural resource management of alpine areas in the context of sociocultural and economic issues and developments (past, present and future situation).
 
Correlations and interdependencies of culture, society and alpine topology are covered on the basis of a changing topic, which is of relevance for alpine regions and picks up the on-going debate.
 
In June a three-day field trip into an alpine region will take place and allow insights into practice.
