Learning Outcomes and Competencies Students will learn about:
  • the IUPAC rules of nomenclature for organic compounds
  • the most important functional groups and their characteristic reactivity
  • the most important reactions and mechanisms in organic chemical transformations
  • the properties and synthesis of biologically relevant structures
  • the determination and significance of stereochemistry for the biological activity of active substances
  • the biochemical structure of cells 
  • the biochemical processes involved in gene protein creation
  • the structure and function of proteins
  • intracellular protein transport pathways
  • the basics of protein analysis
Module Content Fundamentals of organic chemistry. Understanding of the biochemical structure and function of biological macromolecules.
