Entry Requirements Students should be able to:
  • read and understand scientific literature and apply it to the topics covered in the module.
  • independently acquire the necessary basic knowledge in relevant fields (including sustainable development, food production and business administration).
Learning Outcome and  Competences Students will be able to:
  • describe structures, trends and challenges in the agro food industry from the perspective of the various players, as well as understand the dynamics that exist between social, scientific and economic perspectives and explain them at a level appropriate to their audience.
  • describe company forms and structures, explain core processes of a company and derive the connection to a business model.
  • understand the purpose and the use of various innovation methods.
  • describe the central methods and processes of food value creation and assign them according to their relevance to food production.
  • describe the drivers and central principles of environmental science and sustainability and explain them using the triple bottom line.
  • outline value networks using examples and identify potential opportunities for regeneration.
  • reflect on their strengths and weaknesses in the context of different types of preneurship (intra-, entre-, commonpreneurship) and be aware of necessary complementary skills within their team.
Module Content In this module, the students acquire basic knowledge in areas that are central to the Master’s programme. The focus is on food value creation, regeneration and preneurship. Innovation development methods are presented and first application examples tested. In addition, the students plan their Individual Study Journey by analysing their own skills and their personal role as a preneur and formulating their individual development goals. In this multidisciplinary approach, the students develop a systemic understanding of the food system and learn to act independently and reflectively.

Assessment of Learning
Outcome
Predicate (passed / failed) 100%:
 
  • Oral presentation (various formats possible) (30%)
  • Report (70%)
 
In case of failed assessment, the following options are possible:
1. The failed assessments may be resubmitted (in case of written work) or a supplementary examination can be carried out (in case of oral assessment). Counts as first attempt.
2. The failed assessments can be repeated the next time they are scheduled in the regular timetable. Counts as second attempt.
