Speaking and writing in English B2/C1 (online)
Kurzbeschreibung
In a compact online lunchtime class we will engage in lively discussion, starting with interesting texts, videos and audio input (this could mean topics from the news, from academic or professional life, or even literature). We will speak a lot and also use short writing exercises to help focus ideas and use new vocabulary. Following a short needs analysis, we can focus on specific skills such as presentations, dealing with stress in speaking and writing situations, using AI, and tips for academic writing.
The course is also suited for participants who attend or have attended an exam preparation course (e.g. First, Advanced) or other English module and would like to further improve their skills at a B2/C1 level.

Zielpublikum und Voraussetzungen
Students and staff of the ZHAW and other interested people who want to improve their speaking and writing in a small-group learning environment.
Entrance level: B2+ (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

You should score at least 20 points on the following test:

Participants take a very active role. You’ll need a computer with a working webcam and microphone, a stable internet connection and a quiet place to concentrate.
Lehrmittel
You will receive exact details of the course materials (Moodle) at the start of the course.
Methodik
We’ll interact in pairs and small groups so that everyone has a chance to express themselves without the pressure of a big audience. The main ideas and vocabulary will come from recent, authentic texts. We’ll do a range of fun and engaging activities to dig deeper into them.
