Description
Version: 4.0 start 01 August 2024
Short description
You will develop the ability to solve current, energy and environmentally relevant problems in the field of waste gas and waste water. You will acquire knowledge of modern technologies for analysing and treating waste gas and waste water streams and even use them as raw materials for new products.
Module coordinator
Meier Daniel Matthias (meid)
Learning objectives (competencies)
Objectives
Competences
Taxonomy levels
You will have an overview of relevant Swiss environmental regulations, as well as the technical terminology to classify different types of pollution and apply them in a case study.
F, M, SE
K1, K2, K3
You will be able to select an appropriate analytical technique for a waste gas and wastewater treatment problem.
F, M
K4, K6
You can assess pollutants in particle form (shape and size), in gas phase and in liquid phase and recommend a suitable method for their reduction in wastewater and off-gas.
F, M
K4, K6
You understand the concepts of heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic applications for the reduction of pollutants in water and gas.
F
K2
You can dimension/design sedimentation basins and calculate centrifugal separators.
F, M
K3
You can develop, interpret, reflect on, prepare and present current research results.
F, M, SO, SE
K2, K4, K6
By combining the technologies learned, you will be able to contribute to solving current exhaust and wastewater treatment problems (e.g., CO
2
issues, micropollutants, VOCs, PM) with meaningful suggestions.
F, M, SE
K5
