Entrance Requirements Biochemistry 3, Fundamentals of Biochemistry and Bioanalytics
Learning Outcomes and Competencies Students will:
  • be able to understand and discuss challenges in the production of biopharmaceuticals
  • become familiar with, understand and discuss general regulatory requirements for protein-based therapeutics
  • learn about, understand and assess key bioanalytical methods required by regulatory agencies
  • become familiar with and understand targeted analytical questions and bioanalytical approaches for various biopharmaceuticals
  • gain knowledge and understanding of the application areas, limitations, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of bioanalytical methods

  • Regulatory Requirements for Biopharmaceuticals
  • Bioanalytical Characterisation of Biopharmaceuticals
  • Bioanalytical methods for assessing the identity, stability, integrity, modifications, purity, 3D structure, binding kinetics and strengths of binding interactions to the target structure, activity, pharmaceutical efficacy, quantity
  • Examples of approved, biotechnologically manufactured pharmaceuticals such as monoclonal therapeutic antibodies or antibody conjugates, insulins
