Learning Outcomes and Competencies
Students will:
be able to understand and discuss challenges in the production of biopharmaceuticals
become familiar with, understand and discuss general regulatory requirements for protein-based therapeutics
learn about, understand and assess key bioanalytical methods required by regulatory agencies
become familiar with and understand targeted analytical questions and bioanalytical approaches for various biopharmaceuticals
gain knowledge and understanding of the application areas, limitations, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of bioanalytical methods

Regulatory Requirements for Biopharmaceuticals
Bioanalytical Characterisation of Biopharmaceuticals
Bioanalytical methods for assessing the identity, stability, integrity, modifications, purity, 3D structure, binding kinetics and strengths of binding interactions to the target structure, activity, pharmaceutical efficacy, quantity
Examples of approved, biotechnologically manufactured pharmaceuticals such as monoclonal therapeutic antibodies or antibody conjugates, insulins
