Learning Outcomes and Competencies
Understanding basic galenic and technological processes for the production and quality control of solid and semi-solid pharmaceuticals, knowledge of galenic fundamental operations, familiarity with important excipients and pharmaceutical active ingredient control, knowledge of relevant regulations in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.), expertise in stability testing of pharmaceuticals

Classical Pharmaceutical Technology
• Fundamentals of biopharmaceutics
• Overview of drug development
• Basic principles in drug formulation development (solubility, properties of solutions, surfaces and interfaces, disperse systems, rheology, kinetics)
• Powder technology and particle size
• Powder echnology (powders and granules)
• Design and production of dosage forms: ls, powders and granules, standard tablets, modified release tablets, capsules, parenteral dosage forms, topical and transdermal drug delivery, pulmonary drug delivery, formulation of biopharmaceuticals, suppositories
• Production of phytopharmaceuticals
