Entrance Requirements -
Learning Outcomes and Competencies The students:
  • Are able to plan and implement the key steps towards starting a business.
  • Are empowered to recognize and understand the business-related interconnections within a company.
  • Familiarize themselves with the structure of a business plan and marketing concept, with the necessary methods and tools exemplified and occasionally self-developed and practiced. Additionally, they explore the aspects of ethics and sustainability in the everyday practices of entrepreneurs and managers and are provided with recommendations for action.
Module Content Key terms that must be learned:

Business plans & business planning, strategic process, balance sheet and income statement, cost centers and cost types, cost center plan, product costing, price elasticity, legal forms of companies, strategic, private, and financial capital providers, qualitative and quantitative market research, marketing concept, USP & UAP, advertising briefing, Balanced Scorecard, budget processes, controlling, Fairtrade & real wages, cost transparency, and Social Responsibility, business ethics, mission statement.
 
Guiding questions the teaching follows:
  • What distinguishes entrepreneurs?
  • What constitutes a balance sheet and income statement, and what is their significance?
  • How do I establish a contribution margin calculation and how do I define the selling price of my product based on the sales plan? What does price elasticity mean?
  • Which management tools help in leading the company or department?
  • How do I structure a business plan?
  • How do I determine the capital requirement and how do I attract potential capital providers?
  • Which market research tools make sense for obtaining necessary market knowledge? Which organizational and legal forms make sense under what circumstances?
  • What does a company need to consider in the area of "conscious marketing"?
  • What are the opportunities and challenges of "ethics" in entrepreneurship?
