Learning outcomes and competencies After completing this course students will be able to:
  • Identify and address the most relevant competence elements of project management according to baseline competences of the International Project Management Association (IPMA) and the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM)
  • Apply technical and methodological competences to successfully manage projects of limited complexity (IPMA Level D ®) or to work in a project team within a complex project (IPMA Level B ®)
Course content
  • Foundations and basic principles of project management
  • Identify and evaluate project results and project management success
  • Analyse and manage the project environment including stakeholders
  • Define the scope of projects and develop project objectives and requirements
  • Structure projects with respect to content and time
  • Identify and secure necessary resources, staffing needs and requirements and develop project plans including scheduling, cost and resource planning
  • Identify and manage the project organization and project teams
  • Analyse and control projects including the preparation of written and electronic reports
  • Identify problems, issues and areas of investigation and determine the resources needed to address them adequately
  • Identify and analyze project risks and develop a risk mitigation plan
  • Maintain the information and documentation system in the project
  • Manage or participate in the development of policies, practices and procedures (e.g. project management implementation)
  • Assess how changes being made by other entities to infrastructure technologies will impact infrastructure in place, processes and building systems
  • Direct, manage and support the acquisition, operation, maintenance and disposition of components supporting infrastructure technologies
